A excellent food friendly chardonnay from Central Otago, NZ. On the mouth, this dainty dame is filled with beautiful tropical fruits including pineapple, hints of mango and very small amounts of citrus zest. This is balanced out by just a hint of minerality. If you met Madonna today, by her accent you might guess she spent her childhood in an upper crust section of London rather than the mundane Detroit suburbs. Much like Madonna, the Kawarau has you convinced it's of Burgundian heritage which belies it's New Zealand roots. This is accomplished by way of crafty barrel selection. For the Sherlock Holmes in the audience you might have guessed that this wine spent it's first ten months of childhood in Francois Freres barrels.
